KU Libraries host event highlighting collections of local Latino/as' stories

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, KU Libraries invite community members to “Documenting the Latino/a Experience in the Kansas Region,” an evening reception to explore new libraries’ collection efforts by capturing stories of local Latino/as.

Join KU alumni and partners for an evening of conversations, collections and new directions for Monday, October 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Kenneth Spencer Research Library.

Thanks to a generous lead gift from Dana and Sue Anderson, KU Libraries have the opportunity to build a collecting program documenting the Latino/a experience in Kansas. These stories risk being lost; thus, the collection provides the opportunity to ensure staffing and to feature the Latino/a experience in exhibitions and events throughout the community and the state, increasing our collective understanding of each other. Read more about this initiative here.

“Documenting the Latino/a Experience in the Kansas Region” allows campus and community members to more fully experience KU Libraries collection efforts. This event is free and open to the public.

To attend, RSVP to Jennifer Muse by September 30 at
785-864-8691 or jmuse@ku.edu
